ENERGY POVERTY INTELLIGENT UNIT

At EPIU Getafe. Hogares Saludables we focus on the development of a data analysis system -based on big data-, called Energy Poverty Intelligent Unit, which collects information on energy consumption, income and other factors that measure the energy expenditure of households in the Las Margaritas and La Alhóndiga neighbourhoods, in order to catalogue them according to their characteristics, taking into account the degree of vulnerability, on three scales: home, building and neighbourhood.

These cases considered by the tool as 'energy vulnerable' will be analysed by an interdisciplinary team of the Getafe City Council, which will assess the implementation of tailor-made solutions and a compensatory commitment system. It is expected that around 15 buildings and 200 households in the Madrid municipality of Getafe will improve their quality of life and comfort.

In this way, being able to quantify and qualify the energy vulnerability of households provides a deeper understanding of the current problem faced by the European countries and can define the best public interventions for other cities.
